If your custody plan assumes stolen funds can be clawed back after a breach, this week's numbers say otherwise.

CoinDesk reports Mercado Bitcoin pledged to cover every user loss after a hack of nearly $40 million, with partners including Tether, Circle and Chainalysis helping freeze $11M of the stolen assets. BleepingComputer reports Binance says North Korean hackers used a fake job interview to get an employee to install malware, which let them compromise its wallet infrastructure, in a $6.3 billion heist.

The pattern both share: the loss is sized before any response starts, by how much value sits in reachable hot infrastructure and how fast it can leave.

I design and test that boundary for exchanges and custody products: hot/cold split, withdrawal rate limits, plus a freeze-and-notify playbook you agree with partners before you need it.

If that is your exposure, message me and I will come back with cost and timeline inside a day.
